Other different Dvd formats include two sided DVD’s often known as dual layered DVD’s and for compiling large amounts of music a DVD-AR disc can be used. This is advantageous considering that a DVD can store up to 4.7 gigs of data as opposed to the 700 to 800mb a normal CD –R or CD-RW can hold.

While there are many different dvd video formats the choice of which format you use is entirely dependent on the usages you have for the DVD itself. Dvd formats have even begun to encompass high definition discs as well.

While Blu-Ray disc do not carry the DVD label, they are, for all intent and purposes a DVD disc. There was also a flirtation with a product called HD-DVD disc, this was more similar to Blu-Rays disk rather than DVD discs, however due to Blu-Ray disc’s popularity the HD-DVD disc program was scraped.
